HOME Welcome to my Website !
My name is Charlie Corby (formally, Charles E. Corby III) and I live in Costa Rica. For about 25 years I worked as an emergency medical provider (starting as an Emergency Medical Technician and rounding out my career as a Paramedic) and am now retired in Carrillos de Poas en la Provincia de Alajuela en Costa Rica. This country is a BEAUTIFUL place in which to live. The cost of living allows me to live very comfortably on a fixed income. To give you some insight about what I mean by "comfortably," let me tell you what I did in the States to support the same kind of lifestyle. Job #1 I worked 40 hours a week as a Paramedic at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield, New Jersey Job #2 I worked 40 hours a week as the Lead Instructor at the EMS Academy (A Division of the Saint Barnabas Healthcare System) in Union, New Jersey Job #3 I worked about 10 hours a week as a Park Ranger/EMT for the National Park Service at the Statue of Liberty on the Hudson River. Job #4 I worked about 10 hours a week as the Lead Instructor for the Advanced Cardiac Life Support Training Center at Atlantic Health Care, Overlook Hospital Campus, in Summit, New Jersey. NOW, I don't do anything, except care for my wife (she has a touch of Multiple Sclerosis) and my lifestyle is every bit a full as it was in the States. If you're getting ready to retire, think about Costa Rica. If you need some help from this end, contact me by e-mail: charlie@cecorby.com |
